                                  ‘just popping down
                                       to the shops’

                      I no longer
comb through a town’s charity shops
to find the one thing which everyone else didn’t notice
                 of my past
I know I wouldn’t find it there anymore even if I went ahead
                 and bought it
I will sit in a coffee shop with a
                 kicking Americano
                      getting cold while I find
what I am looking for, a constant surprise, if I see carefully what I have been looking at
and I see carefully what I have been looking for
                      all along
                           while writing
