2014, apocalypse, breath, buildings, city, effect, flag, Have, movement, openness, place, relief, seasons, skyline, space, time, view, vista, wind

                buildings of the skyline
                nonchalant and upright

                heave breath through season
                own skyline in years

                wave flags and storey
                benign and unquestioned

to the wind and the space
                which is safe from view

                the impossible interface be
                tween Have and Open

                for space fits around
                and wind is just movement

                from nowhere to nowhere
                when seen in effect

                when seen in relief their
                built-in apocalypse

                of gathering obsolescence
                is clear as vista

this poem was found within the above image which was the most recent in a series of ‘Wordless Wednesday’s by Vanessa Foster in her blog, Unguarded Moments: have a look – https://vgfoster.com/2014/09/17/wordless-wednesday/ – and ‘related’ back to her previous ones, too: they are beautiful

'scape, 2013, 5*, birdsong, blackbird, change, continuity, hills, Lewes, relief, twilight

                      such a relief
                      as the daylight

                      fades and the
                      hills of Lewes

                      darken
                      the blackbird

                      continues to
                      chirp

                      in a hundred
                      different ways

1966, 2014, 5*, breathing, Burt Bacharach, city, contemplation, death, Dionne Warwick, hills, horizon, life, mist, relief

                1966

                                up in the hills
contemplating the cold guide rail directing-back-to-safety horizon
of mist over the wide wide city –
                                                I’m alright
                                                yes I’m alright

several stepped in-takes through I just don’t know what to do with myself by Dionne Warwick & Burt Bacharach and one languid outbreath, each time …

2012, 7*, compassion, detachment, life, love, mind, moment, realisation, relief, settling, sitting, talking to myself, time, true nature

I become better and better at sitting
the more I realise I cannot settle
       even for a moment

and when I realise just how much I cannot settle
       even for a moment,
how the whole of my life is wound round

and weaved through all of my time
all of the time that I cannot settle
       even for a moment,

       what a relief –
all this building all of this plotting all of these clever ripostes –
I can detach from them all

       just for a moment

                 –o–

may I dwell in this my true and only nature
and may no one no one
       be missed out

                                even the crap sittings
                                where I waft around anywhere
                                but where I am

                                even the lazy sittings
where I sit on a chair and stare
                                feeling sorry

                                even the workaday ones
where I sit fussing around the posture
                                like a scaffold

                                all are valuable
if I accept the sheds of pride as they are
                                because

                                later in a day
as life wafts and rolls by itself
                                allofasudden something
                                is just not done anymore
and I let it go naïvely
cast adrift in a grey green mist which
                                I accept
                                with relief
                                and fresh
                                wonder

                                     thy will be done

                                     not in the anxious
                                     lonely maintenance
                                     of my own knight
                                     of vindication but
                                     in the relief and

                                     letting go the myth
