2019, 6*, anxiety, Bodhichitta, Bodhisattva Vow, cause and conditionality, emptiness, identity, illusion, life, sentient beings, stance, wonder, world

                acknowledging ourselves locked
                in cause and conditionality
                whether gangsta or mortgaged

frees us from all stance – there is
nothing on which to take a stand –
what a wonderful world we could

                really live, phantasmagoric,
with no anxiety and infinite wonder,
                none and all: may the

                true nature of myself
                and all others take birth
where it has not yet done so,

                where it has taken birth,
may it not decrease, but may it
                increase infinitely

                                even the crap sittings
                                where I waft around anywhere
                                but where I am

                                even the lazy sittings
where I sit on a chair and stare
                                feeling sorry

                                even the workaday ones
where I sit fussing around the posture
                                like a scaffold

                                all are valuable
if I accept the sheds of pride as they are
                                because

                                later in a day
as life wafts and rolls by itself
                                allofasudden something
                                is just not done anymore
and I let it go naïvely
cast adrift in a grey green mist which
                                I accept
                                with relief
                                and fresh
                                wonder

                ever more openingly and simply
                                and only

                                into the very

                                and the very

                                being that I
define as me both sitting and being but
                                really gazing

                                straight at
and into the very space that allows those
                                definitions

                                to discern
themselves in the first place at all and just
                                watch the

                                endless
creations that compulsively wonder away and around
                                oblivious

                                from the emp-

                                   now, have I forgotten anything

                                   sat outside the supermarket
                                   with nothing to buy watching

                                   the cars circulate round
                                   with their screeches of loyalty

                                   and nostalgia; because when
the heart lulls – as it must

to renew beating – the little
ash trees all in a row settle

                                   like a haircut under over
                                   head clouds and seagulls

                                   spiral questioning over the
                                   wooded hills wondering ‘why’

over and over, in two notes,
                                   calling high, breaking octaves low?

                                                                                              start where
                                                                                 you are II

it’s not just about (the rail-slip of the coffee
that obliges me to wonder) what I feel it’s

not just (the oblique hole in the back of
the chair beside me through which I notice

nothing) about what I see around me –
but that the wonder wouldn’t funnel at all

but that the nothing and the whole would not be noticed
but for the distraction and the writing that

                turns them both
inside out

                                              lifetime

I look and I gaze and wonder
                           but I don’t notice

                           lives shift and change but
I am quiet and not noticed

                           I see dawns over rooftops
I see angles from the pavement

                           but no one else notices;
                           and then I speak

                           and everyone continues
                           to listen to themselves
